Increasing the Number of Qualified Diabetes Educators and Providers
As per College guidelines, Registered Nurses and Registered Dietitians are eligible to complete the entire program (4 theory modules and 2 practical modules each approximately 40 hours in length) while other frontline healthcare workers are eligible to take Module 1. This Certificate Program was developed by the NDHN in collaboration with Cambrian and Confederation Colleges and is accredited by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. For more information about the Diabetes Education Certificate, click here. For more information about the reimbursement program through the NDHN Northern Ontario Aboriginal Diabetes Initiative, contact the NDHN at AboriginalDiabetes@ndhn.com. To request funding for the Diabetes Education certificate, download the "Confederation or Cambrian College Diabetes Education Certificate" funding request form (# NDHN/NOADI/F002). Complete the form and fax it to the NDHN at 807-737-2240. Please note that individuals interested in NDHN funding are required to apply to the NDHN for approval for this reimbursement prior to registering in the Diabetes Education Certificate program. Enhancing Communication and Collaboration between Existing Diabetes Education and Management Service Organizations The process of developing and implementing diabetes-related strategies has enhanced the ongoing communication and collaboration between communities/organizations and NDHN-member diabetes programs. |
