The "Craving ChangeTM" Workshop Application

Food means so much more to most of us than just basic nourishment. Although we need to eat for energy and nutrients, food plays many other roles in our lives as well. For instance, food is an important part of our celebrations, and food gives us comfort and pleasure. Each of us has developed our own unique and often complex relationship with food and having a better understanding of it can be a very important piece of the puzzle when trying to make changes. The materials and approach used in the Craving Change™ program help people who are trying to make, or maintain, healthier food choices.

This workshop targets community workers. In this workshop you will learn more about the huge number of factors that influence what we eat, when we eat, and how much we eat. You will also learn a number of strategies for helping people to figure out if they’re truly hungry or if they’re craving food for other reasons, and what to do about it. And finally, we’ll talk about how to talk about these issues in your work while keeping in mind when to refer your clients for more specialized care.
